According to the director of the Workforce and Economic Development Division at Mott Community College, Dartanyan Jamerson, “Truck driving is in high demand right now currently we are tracking more than 100 local job postings for local and over the road drivers in Flint and the surrounding area.”

This partnership ensures that students learn real-world skills from experienced truck driving mentors. The program runs for four weeks and is a weekday course. Student drivers will be in class Monday to Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm throughout the program.

What to Expect in Training

The training program features one contact/credit hour. Note that the school does feature Essential Reading Skills as a prerequisite course. You will start by getting your learner’s permit and then proceed to prepare to pass the CDL exam in Michigan.
